My Instagram post:
Alright my friends, couldn’t keep this from you any longer. I’m excited and nervous but proud of my next baby. Being sick delayed this project but it’s happening! Sooner than later #mynextbook will be out!! This is the 2nd book in my “How to PhD” series!! As shared in my first book “How to PhD: The Graduate School Handbook” it may prove critical for successful graduation with a Ph.D. to have your NEXT opportunity lined up whether postdoc or top industry role. So here it is! This is everything I learned from applying and interviewing for postdocs myself. I talk about what worked and what didn’t. Interview questions, sample research statement, cover letter, job talk – all provided! It’s all in there to help current graduate students and prospective postdocs to find their perfect opportunity I hope people take full advantage of this book when it’s out. Coming soon on Kindle and as Paperback. #phd #phdchat #graduation #gradschool #postdoc #postdoctoral #postdoctoralfellow #postdoclife
Book’s back cover:
How to Land Your Dream Postdoc – The Insider’s Guide: Postdoc Interview Questions, Successful Research Statement, Cover Letter, and Job Talk is the second book in my “How to PhD” series. Landing either a great postdoc (this book) or top role in the industry (next book), (or sometimes both!), is critical to successfully graduating with a Ph.D. as is discussed in my first book.
How to Land Your Dream Postdoc…
… is a book filled with everything I wish I had known before starting to apply to postdocs in the middle of trying to finish up graduate school, working on my projects, writing my thesis, and defending. There were many things going on all at the same time. I wish that a book like this had helped me to organize my efforts, cut down on unnecessary steps, and still succeed in getting interviews and offers! Whether you are considering staying in academia or leaving, this book is for you if you need to bag a postdoc offer.
This book is complete with advice on how to write your research statement and cover letter, how to prepare for interviews and deliver a killer job talk, and what types of questions to be ready for at prospective academic institutions. Sample successful research statement, cover letter, and job talk are all included in the book! Most importantly, this book will help you to focus your efforts and ultimately succeed in landing the perfect postdoc offer.
About the author
I completed my Ph.D. in physics from Ohio State University in August 2018. Currently, my day job comprises consulting in the aerospace industry. In my free time, I love hanging out with family and close friends, eating, watching movies, and writing. I am passionate about helping students finish their PhDs and transition into rewarding careers outside of academia. After spending nearly ten years in academia, I decided to convert the lessons learned and experiences lived into a series of books to help students navigate school and career.

What happens if you subscribe to this blog
Note that this blog’s newsletter goes out monthly on the 2nd at 8 AM EST when new posts are added. It used to be weekly, but now it is monthly because I don’t want to hit your inbox every week.
Unless you want me to! Let me know what is working, what is not working.
Anyway, since the newsletter is monthly, it will be essential to make separate book announcements in order to get you the free book when the book is indeed available for free. I can’t do that if I don’t have your email.
Subscribing to the blog will mean two things now:
- Getting a monthly newsletter
- Getting the announcement for when the book is available for FREE so you can download it
Sound good? Either way, let me know in the comments below!!
In case you missed it…
