resell your engagement ring

Trying to resell your engagement ring? Just sold mine.

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

I JUST SOLD MY RINGS, that is, my engagement ring and wedding band! This birthday, I decided to sell all the excess materials that I don’t need nor want and make some cash for myself – from me to me. It has been a rough year, personally, due to divorce, and I am doing what I can to recover, both personally and financially. If you are trying to resell your engagement ring, we can definitely bond!

My engagement ring and wedding band are on their way to make a new couple very happy. I am looking at it this way, and that actually is a nice feeling for me.
It’s a really pretty set and would be great for anyone.

Engagement ring and wedding band, goodbye.

You ask, did you get a good price for it?

And, the answer is, no. But, I am still very happy about it. Because I have learned something instead and excited to share with you.

I could feel bad about how retail stores mark up by 1000% and so what I got for the rings is abysmal compared to the original price. BUT I have learned and I really appreciate the lesson from this jeweler.

Learning has its own value.

When you go to resell your engagement ring, it is not about how pretty the ring is or what the original brand or name of the company you bought it from was. My ring was from Kay Jewelers or the LeVian brand. They call brown diamonds “chocolate diamonds” and are great at marketing. This does not serve you well when trying to get money for said diamond.

Good diamonds are supposed to be white, not brown, LeVian.

When trying to resell your engagement ring, it is about the quality of the biggest diamond and how much gold or whatever metal is on the ring. The little diamonds are worth nothing.

They assess and figure out the value and give you just that. So the money may be a lot less but the learning is priceless here.

Don’t let stores “highway rob” you as what you are buying is probably worth like a tenth of what it is being sold for at a retail store.

He was like “your ring is pretty… but the diamond is shit, ma’am.”

Oh, well. I never thought of it that way before as the ring had so much sentimental meaning, but at this point, it was better for my healing to think of it as a piece of jewelry with a crappy diamond.

After buying your ring, the jeweler is stuck with trying to sell the ring for a bit higher than he got it… which I think, won’t be as bad with my ring since it IS so pretty.

As for me, not everything is about money. It is also the peace of mind with selling it to this jeweler at his store rather than to some stranger online. Being done with this is huge, too, mentally.
I AM DONE selling the rings! Moving on.

And… it was fun! David and I first went to a pawn shop and got recommended to this jeweler. Made an adventurous morning out of the whole thing and then got Skyline Chili!!!

Next time you go for diamond ring shopping, just remember:

Diamonds are not a girl’s best friend, cash is, so I can buy myself FOOD 💚🙏

At least, that is, how I felt after my divorce. My ring was a problem and making me sad. So, it is better off with a jeweler who can sell it to someone and make them happy. If YOU are looking to get engaged, maybe get your ring from a jeweler like the one I sold to, who will sell it to you, not 1000% marked up like the retail stores.
