How to PhD is now helping content creators!

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

I am happy to share with you that this blog is now also geared towards helping content creators. I have started a podcast and also a YouTube channel to help both students and also content creators. If you are interested in creating a personal brand or helping people through your content, I hope that the content I share here on that helps you with both big picture stuff and the nitty-gritty.

For example, I have this video below on:

Helping content creators to start a website

Discussion on choosing Platform, Hosting, and Domain

I did a Zoom call with my friend David on starting a website from scratch. We discussed platforms, hosting, and domain. Specifically, we talked about Blogger and WordPress as platforms, and how hosting works on each one.

I stressed that although domain costs money later on, for the first year, it should be free with something like BlueHost for WordPress (.org) sites. So estimate of the cost to start a website for first-year bloggers is around $35 per year if not less than that depending on the platform. It might be a 3-year bundle of around $102 as a deal.

Recently I made some changes to the home page of this website to say the following:

Welcome to the How to PhD digital experience which is now much more than just getting a Ph.D. or a blog 🙏 ❣️

YOU are most welcome whether doing a Ph.D. or not. Here, we are entertaining, educating, sharing our joys, and truly learning whether going to school or not.

How to PhD always was and always will be about helping students of any kind and to support them through all stages of their career. It’s more about building community and taking care of mental health than about getting a Ph.D.

Getting a Ph.D.? Great. Not getting one? Great.

I am really happy if this blog can help any students, whether in school or not. As a student, I wished for more support, and that is what motivated the creation of this website.

This was specifically true for me while getting a Ph.D. but I realize that support is needed throughout life and while going through different stages of career. I am in a phase myself right now where I want to take my content creator role to the next level so I can better serve people out there.

As mentioned in this Instagram post, I changed some of the webpages on this site to focus more on the freely available content.

The books are there too but I wanted to stress that all of the information is also shared for free through the blogs + podcast and videos. More coming.

So please stay tuned and subscribe 🙏 for the monthly newsletter so I can keep you informed about resources and updates without too much email 📜✍️💯 I’m also aspiring to mix in more about science and research in the content and hoping to interest younger audiences as well.

How to PhD is really for everyone who has an interest in learning and/or navigating doing that through school and career.

I hope to include as many people as possible in this effort. Now with quarantine, I hope to serve more rather than less through these avenues 🤝🙌💓

Please check out and subscribe to the YouTube channel and podcast!
