Work from home can be hard for lots of people. As for me, I think there are many, probably, too many ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and colleagues, such as:
-

Instagram
You can still always post selfies and pics throughout the day. That would be a lot of posting, but it’s an option if you wanted to get those likes and comments to keep you company. I have been getting more-than-usual random direct messages as well, and have turned off notifications from this app. -
Zoom call
This pandemic has really increased everyone’s comfort levels with the wonder that is Zoom. I have already Zoom called my mother and multiple close friends. It works really well. I am going to do it only every few weeks, though. I don’t need to Zoom call with someone every day. -
Whatsapp
People are video-calling out of nowhere! Have ya considered that I may be unavailable? I did appreciate talking to my grandmother in India through this, though. She always keeps calls very short and it was lovely to hear from her. She was pandemic-inducibly checking in on her granddaughter on the other side of the world. -
WebEx
Done this quite a bit for work. Needs to stay there. You have to call using your phone and computer. You have to mute both on your phone and computer when not speaking. You have to unmute both on your phone and computer when speaking. If you are not going to speak at the meeting at all, just the computer is fine. -
Skype business messenger
What can I say – it is there and it exists and makes its existence known? There are lots of dinging throughout the workday as people go on and offline. I feel like I know my colleagues’ schedules more intimately now than before and didn’t really need to…? -
Microsoft Teams
I am partial towards this one and have been using it the most for my work from home collaborations. It has the best integration with the rest of my work-related things like Outlook, Calendar, WebEx, and OneDrive.

Too much of keeping in touch is exhausting to me.
I like my me-time and Fuji and my quality time together. Fuji is my son who is a cat. I have been teleworking for some days and he has very much approved of it. He naps by the window in my office while I work, it’s bliss.
I do appreciate making meaningful connections and getting to know people better during this time. Some aspects are communicated better through text or messaging than in person. The details that may be missed in person in the hustle and bustle of regular workdays are now more visible even though the person is not present in the flesh.

Some of my colleagues and I have been sharing work from home logs by email. They are really entertaining reads written during or just after lunch-time, generally. I love reading theirs and I wrote one myself this past week.
Work From Home Log (April 2)
I just ate my linner. I eat a big meal between lunch and dinner so I don’t have to make food twice. I like the eating part, not the making part. Despite that, whatever I make always tastes good (to me) – this time it was home fries and eggs.
I was working while cooking so the sunny side up eggs got overcooked, so maybe fried eggs? Not sure. This always happens and many a pan of mine has become unusable due to too much carbon deposition and the unremovable-ness of such. This did not happen today, though. There was minimal blackening, only delicious browning.
I just love breakfast food. Eggs, fries, toast, butter, jam. But now I am out of fries-material.
Fuji is pretending like I did not feed him when in fact, I did. He played with sunlight reflections a lot today.
