Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

I know I have been posting a lot recently about my illness, about the pandemic, and what to do to pandemic-proof your life and income. I realize all this information might be quite overwhelming. So, I am going to highlight the ONE THING you must not forget to do during this pandemic whether you are essential, non-essential, working from home, on the frontline, lost your job, quarantined, starting your new business, or your next book.
Whether you are feeling well or feeling under the weather, please do this one thing.
Let me back up. You see, this past Saturday, I felt quite unwell. I have been sick, but I felt worse. I was very scared for my health and thought something was wrong with my heart. My pulse was high and I knew because I have been checking my pulse and oxygen levels with a pulse oximeter. I had, of course, read about the possible effects of COVID-19 on the heart. Now that my respiratory symptoms were improving, I wondered if other, worse issues were going to surface. Depressingly, we really don’t know a lot of things. COVID is a topic of active research.
I posted on Instagram:
The latest #covidlike symptom is an elevated heart rate. Respiratory symptoms are more under control. The heart is next. Splashing water on the face helps to get it down some.
It’s true: splashing water on the face does help to get your pulse down if you didn’t know. Feel free to try that one.
I also discovered that drinking cold milk helps to bring the heart rate down, who knew!
But all this still didn’t help to make me feel better overall and I called my doctor. I really should have called her right away. But, I have a tendency to try and solve problems on my own. I called the doctor’s office and they said they would call me back. I sat and waited, continuing to check my pulse with the pulse ox.
The doctor called me back finally…and said she thought it was anxiety. Oh, thank heaven, I do hope she is right.

Did you know Fuji is half the length of my powder room? Ok, the doctor thinks it’s anxiety. Since I don’t smoke and am young according to her she thinks too much monitoring of vitals with the pulse ox is to be banned and to calm the F down. I sure as fuck hope my heart is not messed up. The doctor said pulse rate variability throughout the day is normal. Checking pulse throughout the day NOT normal. I’m still right about milk drinking and splashing of the face with water. Too much milk drinking has given me diarrhea now but that’s fine. Plain water works too. Dehydration is never good.
That brings me to the point I really want to make, which is: DRINK WATER. Stay hydrated.
If you can drink plain milk in moderation, great. But more than anything, remember to drink plain water. Drinking plain water helps our cardiovascular system. I didn’t eat much on Saturday, but I drank lots of water. I also drank lots of milk which gave me diarrhea, but drinking water only had benefits.
Sometimes, in life, we overcomplicate things and do damage to ourselves and our health. It is time to return to the basics and remember what is important.
The ONE THING you must not forget to do during this pandemic:
- Drinking water
- Because dehydration is either the culprit itself or makes everything worse
- Take action –> Drink plain water now
The one thing you must not forget to do during this pandemic is simple and that is to drink more water. That is all I will say in this post and keep it really simple. Water is life and I hope you can drink more of it.
